We the 'Commit to Quit' Anti-Smoking Campaign is a movement that strives to create a difference in our ​society.


We advocate for a cause, mainly to establish a community where individuals are informed of the negative ​consequence of smoking and also aware of recreational activities one can engage in to alleviate stress-​related toxin.

FACTS ABOUT SMOKING

Cigarette use is the main cause of evitable demise in our community ​with over 87,000 Filipino Smokers dying each year from smoke-​related diseases.Smoke related death are mostly due to chronic ​obstructive pulomonary diseases (COPD). When light up, a single ​stick of cigarette creates more than 7,000 chemicals, which are ​scientifically proven to cause cancer and diseases. One of the ​dreadful chemical is Nicotine, it is a chemical responsible for the ​release of dopamin that gives pleasure to a person. The effect of ​dopamin is not long lasting, it causes a smoker to seek cigarettes ​again.

WHAT IS SMOKING?

When a substance is burned, the resulting smoke is usually breathed in to be tasted and absorbed into ​the bloodstream. This practice is known as smoking. The substance used most frequently is made up of ​dried tobacco plant leaves that have been rolled into a small rectangle of rolling paper to form a tiny, ​spherical cylinder known as a cigarette.

PHYSICAL APPEARANCE - In addition too many negative effects to ​one's health, smoking can also cause change in physical appearance ​for continuing of use of cigarettes, this may damaged skin, teeth, nails ​and a lot more.

WASTE OF MONEY - Smokers spend more money than non-smokers ​since they have to spend their money on their health care, insurance, ​and especially cigarettes. Mostly more people are smoking in poorer ​communities, and poor people spend more on cigarettes which leads ​them to poverty. Imagine, one stick of tobacco costs about Php7, while ​a pack costs more than Php100.

MISBEHAIVIOUR - Cigarettes also have a bad effect in our behavior, like ​we're doing such things that we don't usually do before. It is being ​addictive, because its our choice to take a risk when smoking. ​Smoking actually increases anxiety and tension, that is why lots of ​young people start smoking due to peer pressure. The misbehaving act ​is more seemingly influenced right from the peers around their circle.

Proper Waste Disposal

IMPROPER WASTE DISPOSAL - After smoking, a smoker consumes the ​cigarettes and then discards the butts wherever they like. This is ​where "improper waste disposal" become evident.It is undoubtedly one ​of the main causes of the presence of waste in the communities, as ​well as it may lead to sewage irrigation problem. On the other hand, it is ​also a burden for marine life, fishes mistook the cigarette butts for ​food.

DISEASES - When a person smokes, toxic gasses called carbon ​monoxide and nitrogen oxide pass into almost every organs of your ​body. This can cause disease like Lung Cancer, COPD (chronic ​obstructive pulmonary disease) and Heart disease. These are just ​three examples of deadly diseases that you can attain once you start ​smoking.

RECREATIONAL WAYS

SPORTS - In engaging in recreational activities like ​sports such as basketball, you can be more productive ​and most specially you can put aside your smoking ​hobby. Not only will it help you physically, but it will also ​enhance your respiratory breathing that has been ​damaged by your smoking habit.

ARTS - Doing something creative shifts our minds to ​work effectively and artistically.This transforms stress ​into beneficial bodily reactions, such as the release of ​the mood-stabilizing hormone called serotonin. ​Additionally, making crafts or something on your own ​also creates a useful habit that will help in the transition ​from smoking to a healthy alternative stress-relieving ​activity.

EXERCISE - When we exercise, our dopamine levels ​increase, which gives us a sense of motivation and ​fulfillment. As a result, we feel less stressed, which ​makes it simpler to resist the urge to smoke.


MEDITATION- One's mind is freed up and they become ​relaxed when they meditate. People experience less ​stress and have more energy, which enhances their ​general well-being. It is way better stress reliever than ​engaging and using cigarette.

BEING ONE WITH NATURE - Getting outside and taking in ​our surroundings is a nice way to release stress. We can ​be inspired by the world we live in and come to terms ​with our decisions. This is a healthier option for stress ​relief than smoking, since it will not only benefit the ​person, but also the environment.

ENTERTAINMENT – Consumption of cigarette is ​becoming a solution for young people to release stress ​nowadays. But instead of doing these practices, people ​can consider entertainment like watching movies and ​listening to music as the way to overcome their stress. ​In this way, people can tend to appreciate taking care of ​themselves and realizing that there’s a lot of ways they ​can reduce their tension rate.
